The 17th edition of Expomin 2023, the largest international mining exhibition and congress in Latin America, successfully concluded with a significant number of visitors, according to the event’s organizers.
Over the course of four days, Santiago de Chile’s Parque Fisa became the epicenter of the global mining industry, attracting top officials, executives from mining companies, and 1,270 exhibitors.
Spanning an impressive area of 250,000 square meters, this year’s edition marked the second-largest in the exhibition’s history, surpassed only by the 2014 event.
Expomin 2023 saw an exceptional response from participants, with a total of 58,052 visitors attending over the four days. The event proved instrumental for both exhibitors and visitors in driving the development of the mining industry, which plays a crucial role in boosting the Chilean economy and creating new job opportunities.
The International Congress featured 14 seminars and over 100 speakers, addressing the industry’s pressing needs in terms of energy transition and combating climate change. Key discussions revolved around the pivotal role of minerals like lithium and copper in these endeavors.
Looking ahead, the organization announced that Expomin 2025 is set to take place from March 24 to 27 of that year, inviting all stakeholders to participate in the future edition.
Highlighting the international appeal of the event, a remarkable 8,180 foreign delegates attended, providing a significant boost to the national tourism industry. Expomin 2023 managed to fill 52.6% of the hotel capacity in the city of Santiago, which boasts a total of 15,550 hotel beds.
Furthermore, the exhibition solidified Chile’s position as a leader in foreign investment within the mining sector. It showcased the country’s technological prowess and innovative solutions, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mining practices.
The organization is actively addressing logistical and transportation challenges to continually enhance future editions of Expomin.
Undoubtedly, Expomin 2023 stands as one of the largest and most successful editions to date, surpassing the figures achieved by the 2018 and 2021 editions.
